A Great Time to Take Care of Yourself!

With so much uncertainty going on in the world, it is good to look after yourself! Self care is one of the most important things that we can do for ourselves, and now is the perfect opportunity to do. So, whether you live alone, with someone else, or have a family, there are always things that you can do to support yourself to ensure you are doing what you can to better your health! Our team have put together some top tips for you to support you in having a healthy, balanced lifestyle while staying at home!

Having a healthy, balanced lifestyle takes into account a whole host of things but you want to make sure your physical and mental health are being looked after. The physical health support looks into being active and having a healthy diet and the mental health resources provided are there to help you take a step back and clear your mind.

Exercise

Adults should be completing 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week, this is 30 minutes per day, for 5 days of the week. The good thing is that this can be done in 10 minute sections! See below for some exercise suggestions:

Having a healthy, balanced diet has a whole host of benefits such as improved heart health, better mood, stronger bones and teeth etc. There are some great tips below to support you in having a healthier lifestyle:

Mental and Emptional Wellbeing

Exercise has the benefit of improving our physical and mental health, however there are some activities you can do that focus on your mental wellbeing, these can be found below:

  • List 10 things, big or small, that you are grateful for

  • Write a list of small, doable goals that you'd like to achieve this month - use the SMART goal method: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-measured

  • Practice self compassion - be gentle and kind with yourself and remember that sometimes it's enough to just take care of your basic needs: get some sleep, drink enough water, get some fresh air, eat some balanced meals and don't hesitate to ask for help and support if you're feeling overwhelmed!
