Diabetes Week 2019

Diabetes UK want people to see diabetes differently.

Diabetes Week is running from 10 - 16 June 2019 to help increase the public’s understanding of diabetes and tackle the stigma that surrounds it. Diabetes can be complicated to understand and during the week they aim to help people understand how it feels to live with it

Did you know?

  • 1 in 15 of us live with diabetes including 1 million who haven’t been diagnosed.

  • There are many different types. What they have in common is that they all raise blood sugar and that can damage health.

  • Genetics, ethnicity, gender, lifestyle factors and age can increase your risk of developing the condition. But sometimes it’s not clear why it has happened.

  • Having diabetes doesn’t mean that life stops. It might make life harder but you can still achieve your ambitions.

You can find out more about Diabetes Week and get resources such as posters, leaflets and bunting on the Diabetes UK website.
